New Build from the States
New Build from the States
Hello,
This is my first complete restoration / build, made it for my wife. Please take the time to view the complete build on you-tube.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U2OENrnRZfA" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
I have too many photos to upload. Also I would not have been able to have done this without the help from Craig [Martin Robey]
Jason [Rejen] and Durran. Thank you.

Re: New Build from the States
We found the car in Sonoma CA. 1971 MK11 with 155K miles on it. So the story goes, it was originally Hugh Hefner's ? Almost no rust.

Re: New Build from the States
A real credit to the Jensen community. I can't imagine many people will see this car without wanting to be a Jensen owner - well done!
I'm not a big fan of the wheels & tyres but everything else is wonderful and the changes to the front end are tasteful and should not date. You don't need to worry about originality when modified looks this good!

"Now that chassis number is particularly interesting ‘cos it’s the one after the one before, which is the one after mine, not many people know that"

Re: New Build from the States
A few of my guys helped get the beast out. We did spend a few hours pressure washing the years of grime away.

Re: New Build from the States
We lowered the front valence to match the height of the rocker panels. Also the front bumper frame pipes were lowered to be the same height as the back bumper.

Paint
We used a white paint from a 1958 corvette. Its a very complex color, Looks amazing. I never realized how many white paint existed until Jeff handed me a large plastic bin full of just white swatches. Hundreds. It was just chance that I happened to be checking on the progress of the body work when they were pulling out the 1958 corvette from the spray booth.

Re: New Build from the States
The interior body was in great shape. No real rust. A perfect example of a California car.

Sound Proofing
I spent quite a bit of time on the sound deadening and sound proofing. One of my main goals was to make the ride as quiet and comfortable as possible. Now that it is done and we have put some good miles on it. Amazing! Here"s a link where I got all the products from. The owner is a great guy and spent quite a bit of time learning me to the dark art of sound.

VB-2
A vinyl sound proofing product was used for the doors and body areas. You can get a good idea of this from the how to install link.

Re: New Build from the States
I spent more time fitting and getting the rubber door seals to engage properly, something like 40 hours. Cutting, bending, adding and a lot of swearing. The end result is a seal almost as good as a new well built vehicle.

Rejen
Rejen provided the complete interior. A few months after placing the order, everything showed up in a giant custom built crate. Carefully packed and ready to install. it was a pleasure working with Jason.

Trans Tunnel
The product used to cover it is a lead lined neoprene -VB-3. You lay it over and shape it into place using a rubber mallet. This is one of the most effective ways to reduce sound.
