A little more progress has been made with the outer wheelarch now tacked in place and the outer sill cover fitted.
The sill step panel has been left removable for now so that some more paint can be applied to the chassis tube and inside of sill cover.

This really is going to be a long haul project after another couple of months I am a bit further forward, the welding is now complete on the o/s of the car with the sill and rear wing finished, the drivers door has also been reskined and repaired.
Some reworking of the lower front wing where it meets the sill is required as it is out of line.

It will now be a few months until the work restarts as I have another small project to be done first.

DID YOU LAY THAT REAR ARCH ON TOP OF THE QUARTER PANEL TO TACK IT ON ???

It was joggled around the arch and the rear end butt welded where it forms part of the rear valance.

The photo on the first page of this topic shows where the previous restorer had welded a new arch section over the old so we cut out this and fitted a new section of inner arch before fitting the outer so it should all be good now for many years to come.

Life changes and other restorations have meant this project has been stalled for too long so I am very pleased to see some recent progress.
After much looking at my bonnet which had been structurally repaired by a previous owner, it was not going to be used on the car as it would require too much filler.

After a long search I found someone with an English Wheel who could make one for me, I am very pleased with the result, not only does it look great it also fits well.
So now the bonnet issues have been resolved he will be finishing the rest of the metalwork over the next few months.

Beautiful DaveImage.. Aren't these people "Rich" in cleverness that can make these items from from flappy steel and wheel :lol: ..Amazing.. good on you for finding someone DaveManImage, I bet you're as please as punch aren't you :wink:

It is beautiful and as said it is a truly amazing skill that I will have to leave to others, it does give me great pleasure to see it come together.

Dunc, I have already spoken to Gary regarding his wings and was discussing this with my metal man today so hopefully he will be sorting out another FF before long,

That's good news Dave, to see metalwork like this really is an absolute pleasure, the fit even at this raw stage looks brilliant on your bonnet/hood,

I have now made the last of the missing parts for my car.
I have machined a few missing pieces but had left the most difficult part until last, originally a cast piece of aluminium to support the steering column under the dash. As casting a single piece would take longer than machining it, I bought a section of aluminium square bar and machined it with a final bit of finishing by hand with a file.

Although not a 100% replica I wanted to keep the basic shape even though it will not be seen once the steering wheel cowl is fitted.
