Martin Kennedy's Interceptor mark 1
This is Martin Kennedy's Interceptor Mark 1, fresh from a restoration by Rejen.
Martin has restored cars before (a Lotus Elan S4 DHC which he still has) but decided to leave the restoration of the Interceptor to the professionals.
In Martin's words
"I'd like to thank Jason and his team in Rejen for all their work which is just a joy to see. I'd also like to thank Steve Hickey who had me sit in his lovely Mk 1 at the NEC stand the year before last. It was my first time to sit in an Interceptor despite lusting after them since being 10 years old. I hope it gives encouragement to members who man stands that my meeting with Steve was a big part in my route to ownership- thanks again Steve . As will become evident from the photos below the colour scheme of the restored Mk 3 on the Rejen stand that year influenced the look."

Thanks for all the positive comments on http://www.joc.org.uk/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?f=17&t=20413" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;. I waited a year or so to get my car and certainly have enjoyed getting it and in particular this week where we had great weather and I clocked up about 200 miles. The car behaves very well even in heavy, snails pace traffic.
The car is pure art and I have enjoyed photographing it and shamelessly add a few more below. The paint is sometimes blue, sometimes green and is admired by all. I will gather together a selection of photos of the restoration and post them as I have enjoyed so many posts of others restorations and cars in use. My car will be used, not stored
First Classic Car run on Sunday (rain forecast but going anyway!)

I imagine you feel just like a well heeled man of the sixties would have!
Which run are going on Martin? Garden of Ireland club or Moone club?

There is an annual run from the Royal St. George Yacht Club in Dun Laoghaire - assemble at 10am and then a run up into the Dublin / Wicklow mountains at 11- usually about 50 or so cars. I'll post a pic.73Mark111 wrote:I imagine you feel just like a well heeled man of the sixties would have!

Stunning car!
Quick question... where did you get the rear seat belts from? Was this done by ReJen?

Re: Martin Kennedy's Interceptor mark 1
Sorry for the "slow" answer to your quick question. Rejen didn't do the seat belts. The car went up to Quick fit somewhere in London for the job - required a trailer as it had no MOT at the time. I have kids aged 8 and 11 so rear belts were a must. There were no mounting points for the rear belts (which I think was the case for Mk1s) hence Rejen outsourced it.AJ wrote:Stunning car!

I have clocked up over 600 miles in the last two weeks. Today was the first glitch. Seems like petrol starved. It just faded out while at lights in city centre situation. I expect the filter has picked up some dirt from the tank and so new filter will be required. I got it going on reduced power. I'll have to look into it in about 10 days as I'm away on leave for the next little while. The car is tucked up for now. I was developing repetitive strain injury at the petrol pumps anyway

Re: Martin Kennedy's Interceptor mark 1
Thanks Martin, I'll get in touch with quick fit and arrange for some rear belts like yours to be fitted to my MK1.
By the way your interior looks mint. Love the choice of colour!

Re: Martin Kennedy's Interceptor mark 1
AJ, Quickfit SBS fitted the belts on my FF years back, what I did was to visit them on the Tuesday morning of the Ace Cafe, had a day out in London and then visit the Ace in the evening. May be worth killing two birds with the one stone.

Martin, your car has reminded me why I chose a mk 1 all those years ago. Brilliant!
