The obvious question to ask is where this came from - I can see the sellers interest in it due to his name, but which of the rare cars did this come from?
I would have my doubts that the S type and H type radiator shells are the same, but Richard may be able to comment - I assume thsi would have come from an S type as more of these have been scrapped. Did Jensen stamp the car number on these parts? I know they are on other bits, like the chrome strips down the side and the bumper bars.
Seems to be priced pretty high but would imagine that it wouldn't be cheap to make one!

Perhaps it is from a PW. Looks very similar to the one on page 141 of All The Models...

Looks like there are a couple of screw holes for holding a fake cap + mascot. Does not look quite as backward leaning as the PW? So maybr H type, possibly brased shut at the top if they all had real radiator caps in the surround?

The V shape is not pronounced enough for an H, so I reckon an S which was flatter. But, as Richard says, there's no hole for the filler - most odd.

There is an S type in Germany of course, so maybe he has had some work done on the radiator and needed a new surround?

I am sure the ferret is on the case and in due course will find out its history!

A Jensen S or H has 20 slats, not 16 as shown, and the shell cannot function without a filler neck so I doubt it is a Jensen shell. Perhaps one of our Deutsch-sprechers could interrogate the vendor. "If you get ze answers wrong, it vil not go easy for you, ja?"

Radiator grille PW?

This is more likely. The 16 slats is right and, although the first PWs had a filler cap, the later ones didn't (filling from under the bonnet). The car pictured in All The Models is one of the six known PW survivors, and it was in Germany last I heard. PCA8 does not appear to have needed a new radiator shell but there are still 12 more unaccounted for.
