It's behaving perfectly now thanks Martin.
The axle problem turned out to be the half shaft bearings had been fitted the wrong way round, after lots of head scratching to come to that conclusion I rebuilt it myself although the fault has cost me lots of time and money.
I have a reconditioned wiper motor I hope to fit today although I made a temporary repair to the old unit so I could finish my test drives and everything else is working perfectly.
I have purposely tried to overheat the engine by test driving in rush hour traffic and then sitting the car idling for ½ an hour and the temperatures were checked with an IR thermometer and were good with the fans coming on and off as required.
It's now just a matter of all the finishing touches (there's plenty of them) hopefully I have everything to finish it now with s/s sill covers and with the last part the aircon components ordered on Friday.
The car will be at the International this year but it may not be finished as I am now behind my schedule and also have lots of other commitments although I feel I have come a long way in 2 years and 7 months I just needed another month as it was an ambitious schedule.

Re: Restoration of 128/4430
I'm sorry I didn't get to speak to everyone at the International as I had my head down polishing for most of the time.
Here are some photos of the finished car
I must thank the following for their hard work
Geff & Brian at Park Garage Bodies for the welding and fabrication
Steve at Streetstyle Bodyshop for the body prep and paintwork
Dennis Haywood for retrimming the interior
Susan my wife for many hours of polishing before and during the concours as well as putting up with my constant absence for the last 2 1/2 years

Congratulations!
It's a lot of hard work to achieve that level of standard
Very well done - now you can relax and enjoy the car

Dave. A word of advice. The conservatory roof is just fine with a good cleaning. It doesn't need to be torn down and replaced. If you do that you'll only end up adding another bedroom while you're at it.DPP wrote:Thanks everyone for the support but it doesnt look like I will be resting too much as i have to finish lots of jobs which were going to be left till winter.
