The Early Interceptor

Post by Keith »

Designed by Eric Neale, the 'Interceptor' model name suggested by David Strathcarron (he should have asked for royalties!), the 'Early' Interceptor is certainly fascinating.

Wonderful - I was very surprised when I first saw one in the metal, just how big the car is!

Much bigger than I had imagined - any pics of the early Interceptor with other more common cars nearby to show the scale?

I have often wondered how much the SV-8 styling owed to the early Interceptor - check out that down turned grill and the small triangular intakes/indicators alongside it. Was the 50's car a direct influence, or did it just influence the 60's CV8 which in turn influenced the 2000's SV-8? See the progression below:

This early Interceptor was at the Het Loo show in Holland a couple of years ago, and is next to Bill Smiths "Woody"

If anyone wants to own such a BIG beast....Talk to me.
My left hand drive saloon is for sale

By the way on the last photo my Tangerine Healey sits next to the Interceptor. At this German meeting I first laid eyes on the early Int. and fell in love.... A few years later I found mine in the US and shipped it to Holland for a full restoration for which I did never find the time unfortunately
