I think last year was after or was it very early.
Seem to remember a very nice evening in excellent setting with equivalent company.
I may have dreamt this though.......

Wessex Area Christmas pary 2014 was held at the Shaw Country House Hotel near Melksham in January 2015.
Any suggestions for 2015 venue?

...more seriously, I could ask the chamber of commerce about Wells...next to Bishops Palace, or the Cathedral or in the Market Place. Some excellent local hotels, and restaurants.
Any other ideas?

I can't remember the name of it but we had a very nice meal upstairs in a restaurant in the middle of Wells a few years back, maybe Terry or Jean can remember?

...plus daft things like ...
Haynes Motor Museum ( good for 2x hours, plus more if the kids are doing the Age 11 plus driving school)
Fleet Arm Arm - 3 > 4 hours depending on mood.
Cheddar Gorge ( don't rev too hard as you'll create a rock fall)
Dunster Castle -
Farleigh Hungerford Castle -
.....
I'm sure others have great ideas..!
I'm new to this so what are the numbers, and usual format?

All these venues are fine, but the Wessex area covers West Wilts, South Glos and North Somerset, I think we may need a venue more central to
the area.

Terry,
Based on that regional issue then if Sandford is out then Melksham is as well especially those form South Glos?...... looks like the MacDonald's at Cribbs Causeway it is then
To be honest if you want to make it central to the region then you either need north west Bristol (anywhere near Thornbury?) But of course it all depends on where people are coming from, if the majority are from the south then there is on need to go north or East etc ......would it not be better to ask the region if they would be interested first on a specific date otherwise you're going to get the same response as Saltford for yesterday - only 2 replies.
I know this is not much help but date and interest first then location and numbers - even to invite the south west and those that need passports from Wales if there is an overnight option as well?

Wessex area for a few years used The Cross Hands on the A46 near Yate north Bristol, for Sunday meals, but after a couple of bad meals the venue
was dropped. We also had our Christmas meals there, but we havn't found a Pub as central since. It was close to Motorway links as well. I think
a venue close to M5 and M4 would be ideal. Anyone think of a pub on the A46, A38, with large car park, perhaps with B&B, let me know, PLEASE!
