Hi Terry
I use 20W50 classic mineral oil, usually from Halfords, in my Interceptor mk2.

My preferance is Castrol 20w50. Any Dexron 2 is OK.

Kendal 20w50 is the regional oil the engines were designed for. Apparently, or at least originally made from Texas crude. Never used it myself. Most American car shops stock it.

All I can say is that you may notice how the engine feels/sounds better with fresh decent quality oil in, and that it stays feeling fresh longer with the better brands.

Kendall 20W-50 was not introduced until the mid 1960s. The B & RB engines were designed almost a decade before 20W-50 oil came about.

Just googled and Kendal have been taken over a few times since the 60s, and the oil has been reformulated multiple times "to keep up with changing standards".

I use Penrite mineral 20W-60 for the engine (as it has added ZDDP - Zinc for flat tappet engines) and Castrol Dex III for the gearbox (over here Dex II is almost impossible to find). Never had issues with either and generally reasonably priced.
