Hi all,
Took my son gliding today. While he was up in the air I asked to take a look at the motor-driven winch. I looks like the "winch" looked to be running off a 383, presumably from a MkI, although the oil filter and dizzy don't quite look in the right position. "Plenty of power to spare I was told".

Re: Interesting use of a Mopar 383
The position of the dizzy and oil filter suggests that if its a Mopar engine, its a LA engine of some sort (340-360 etc.), so not a big block (so probably not a 383 or 440).
Im not up with the Chevy/Ford block layouts but could also be one of the variants?
Still would have plenty of grunt for its purpose tho.

That's not a Mopar engine at all. Pretty sure it's a Pontiac engine and Turbo 400 trans.
