13lbs or 15lbs Expansion radiator cap

Post by nrb993 »

Hi all,

Please which v8 Rad Cap should we choose for 440 or 383, maybe does it make a difference

CT6119 - 15lbs Rad Radiator Cap
CT5048 - 13lbs Rad Radiator Cap

It would be good to know - The radiator cap is a non-blowoff. This cap is just for the expansion tank

Thank you

Mk1 Owners handbook says 13psi
Mk2 Owners handbook says 16psi
Don't know for Mk3.

Brilliant

MK3 handbook - 1972 - 440 H series

Page 24 - Cooling System

The cooling system is pressurised to 13 psi and therefore operates at a higher temperature than normal.

I wonder the reason for the 16lbs for the mk2 and the 383

cheers
