Cam chain

Post by Per »

As written in the oil pickup thread the strainer was full of debris from the nylon cam drive sprocket. However the current chain is a double roller chain. Both from memory of previous rebuilds and from pics in Monday club site the cam sprocket with nylon covering is single roller chain? So it appears the chain has been changed by a PO? Or were there double roller chain variants with nylon? No sense in taking off cover if the chain and sprocket has already been replaced. Maybe there is room for the boroscope to do its job.

Hi Per,
the original nylon covered sprockets did NOT work with a double roller chain.
Details see here:

For comparison - this is the old chain design ("toothed chain") ...
