Hi
Have being checking out the thermostat on my CV 8 rebuild.
I have tested it by immersing it in water and bring it to boiling point.
It opens up fully but only when the water boils.
I believe that the unit should open on or around 57C and fully at 75C.
I would have thought that it would work if OK or not work at all if at fault.
As the thermostat is pretty much welded (aluminum corrosion) into the housing I would be happy to leave alone but now have my doubts as to weather or not its going to be opening up at to high a temperature.
Can anyone enlighten me on this matter.
Many thanks.
P

Re: Thermostat
Hi,
If I was you for the sake of a few pounds after flushing the cooling system out, if you haven't already done so, I'd put a new one in.. after all, if you trust the old one and put it back in, what would you think if it then boils?
New one
