383 engine number location

I have a 1969 Mk 1 with 383 engine. Need to know location/s of engine number for registration purposes. Appreciate any help. Cheers

You should find it by the distributor.
If you are referring to the car number in your signature then if original it should be 1371/15D

I have always read the engine number from the flat face of the block where the Air-con pump sits above, so it is the same sort of position as the dizzy but on the other bank of the "V".. but.. I have only ever read Mk2's and Mk3's.. not Mk1's :?

yes its on the opposite pad from the dizzy (i.e the one closest to cyl 1) on all 3 of my MK1's, MK2 and CV8

Should look something like this.

As said , opposite dizzy.

Far edge of block towards the front.
