I think my good friend RJ has succeeded in getting much better gas mileage than you describe.
In fact if you think about it, with a progressive linkage only opening carburetors as needed, effectively you could be driving around with just a two barrel.... if you can keep your foot out of it.
I can’t argue that tuning a six pack configuration is likely a lot more challenging, but my guess is that they went away because of the 1973 1974 fuel crisis and emissions requirements, vs any reliability or performance concerns on the part of Chrysler.
But what do I know – I don’t have one!
