440 head gasket slots

Mopar Big Block Talk

I can't seem to access the Monday Club's "The Cure" article.

I found these on eBay, is the large slot on the old Fel-Pro the size I need to be aiming for?

As I am going to be using aluminium heads, is this modification still sensible? I am running a stroked engine with 9.7:1 compression so heat is going to be considerable! I will probably order custom Cometic gaskets with the larger holes rather than modifying a standard set.

Is this what you are after

Its an easy modification to do, I use a Dremel.
As far as Ali heads you will have to see if the water passages are aligned or the same as standard steel heads.

Thanks Steve,
The chap doing my engine hasn’t modified the gaskets and is confident I won’t have problem. We shall see I guess!
Block water passages are completely rust free and clear, flowcooler pump, and new rad will hopefully be sufficient.
