I was watching Wayne Carini tonight and he was selling a Plymouth superbird.

The car had twin alternators as in the picture above, seem an odd thing to do as these cars had mechanical fans for cooling.

I wonder why they did this? Were the alternators that unreliable?

They did not have twin alternators, that's someone,s lash up, they did struggle to keep cool due to a very small front opening to the radiator had a regular mopar radiator, fan shroud and fixed or viscous fan,,

The car that Wayne Carini was selling to a collector who reckoned it was "100% original ''.

That’s why they are called alternators Steve. If one fails you have an alternative. :mrgreen:
