Inlet manifold to Holley sniper

Hi, I have just bought an «inj» for my 440. Earlier I have used an weiamd + dual plane manifold, but I think thats not the best Choice with the Holley sniper system. I’m think I have to change to an single plane low rise like the Holey strip dominator.

Anyone with experience around this.

Erik

Any dual plane manifold will work as long as it has the correct bolt pattern for the throttle body and is not to tall.

Personally I have the Edelbrock on mine but I have seen others fitted.

I think it works good on you comander system, the sniper system are not so refine... The action+ inlet have the divider all the Way up- so I think I have to CUT it a bit.

Hi Erik

Assuming your car is still a road car and the engine is still in most ways standard, I would stick with a dual plane manifold since it will still be a “wet” manifold even after the Holley Sniper system has been fitted. If you were going for port injection, then it would be a “Dry” manifold and I would also suggest a single plane replacement.

The Edelbrock performer RPM is very good manifold if you have the height in the engine bay? 383/440 & the height of the Holley throttle body will effect this.

Are you going to go for the Holley Sniper Pro (more software options) and are you thinking of controling the timing with the Holley system? If you are you will need a dual sink distributor (eg for the 440 = Holley 565-103) and a small adapter harness (Holley 558-493).

Keep us posted how things work out for you.

Its std. sniper, but i will change the dizzy after startup and run in :-) The inlet are wet, and I think both holley and fitech have problems when it comes to manifolds with the divider all the way up- so they work best with spacer, or lower divide like the rpm performer. The engine are some sort of std......  Sidejammer alu heads, pistons 10:1, new rods, hyd.roller(xr274hr), short headers...++

Hi Erik

Philip Lochner Used the Edelbrock Performer RPM manifold and EFI ..... you may care to look at his blog in this forum and possibly make contact with him re his experiences. His blog is full of good tips, Eg the issues he faced with the Edelbrock manifold, his choice of throttle body and the IAC.

PS What are “Sidejammer” Cylinder Heads?

Thanks- will check. Sometimes it goes to fast- its sidewinder heads. Regarding to mopar mecanics in Norway/Sweden they have better quality(Harder) on the alu than 440sourse, and even with upgradet springs, locks etc they are not exspencive. Hopefully the not only looks good, but work AS the schould also. I guess I find out during the summer...

Thanks Erik

Sidewinder Heads ......OK. They look interesting from what I can see on google http://www.mopartsracing.com/parts/Sidewinder.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; ... who actually makes them?

I see there is also the Promax head https://promaxxperformance.com/product/ ... -bb-mopar/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

I was thinking about the Trickflow 240 or 270 heads with Porter Racing or Larry Smith doing a little work on them first.

Then there are the Edelbrock, Indy, Mopar, Bulldog and http://www.aeroflowperformance.com" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; Heads ... This list seems to go on and on these days. It’s nice to have choice but it’s getting quite a task to work out what is best.

Keep us posted please with how you build works out.

Its an nightmare to choose heads... i was think about Indy EZ, but I want an engine with punsh also in the lower part, and I was afraid to have to big inlet canals.

They claim that its the same factory in China that makes the heads for Volvo that make them. I talked with a swede that have built 10 engines with them, and sold 30 pairs, and he said they was better than the other lowcost heads out there. I also talked to mopartsracing and he also said they was good, so I took a chance :-)

Will keep you posted- just have to put the pistons in first :-)
