440 source water pump

Post by esse1 »

Has anyone any recent experience with the 440 source water pump and housing. I'm thinking of replacing my original pump while it's off . I've read some comments on various forums saying that the 440 source housing outlet port is too small compared to std. The comments are several years old and I'm wondering if the housing has been improved since . My pump has water inlet on passenger side - RHD car.

I would recommend the Flowkooler, the tolerances are so good if you do a trial fit without a gasket it wont turn.

They tell you to spen the pump to check clearance first because you may need two gaskets is that pump the vane type for high flow? RacerJoe has

You need to check the clearance, if you fit it with no gasket you might find the impeller either touches the body of the water pump or in some cases won't rotate. One gasket is usually enough to create a clearance but if it locks solid two gaskets might be better.

440 source website says they now have LARGE COOLING PORTS (!!) I have run the Mopar aluminium housing and pump for 20+ years with no problems.

The difference between a standard and a Flowkooler pump.
