I've disconnected & plugged the vacuum advance pipe and retimed the engine to 35deg @3000rpm, although with the very light springs in the distributor centrifugal advance is pretty well fully in by 1500-2000rpm. Tickover advance has settled at about 20deg BTDC. Engine seems to run the same at idle , will now try some power runs when I'm back in a week or so, but still feels "flat" even when revving while stationary.
If you've seen my other thread, I suspect I'll be taking at least the valley cover off for a deeper look at things.
Thanks for all the input, update in a week or so.
Cheers,
John
