Polyloc engine mounts, which ones?

Post by Jorrocks »

I want to get a set of these, but I'm not entirely sure which Part number I need. Going by the illustrations in the parts book, it's either a fitment for a 67-'69 A-Body Original B/RB or for a B,C,E-Body Small Block & B/RB. The schumacher poly-loc part numbers are BXEP and E1HP respectively. Can anyone confirm which I need for a '72 mk3 with the 440 lump?
Thanks in advance,
Eric.

Hi Eric

You need MREBXEP if you are buying them from Mancini racing

They are great quality as they should be at this price but can be a little harsh if you are used to the standard mounts.

Thanks Steve!
Will contact Mancini Racing as I'm off to Chicago in ten days with a very large empty suitcase and a long shopping list!
See you at the Sunday Scramble on the 3rd?
Eric.

Eric,
I tried the polylock mounts and am now back to the OEM style rubber mounts with a mechanical travel limiter from Shcumacher enterprises. I do still run the Urethane transmission mount and highly recommend that. The motor mounts were too harsh and they seemed to collapse very early on, sinking my motor down and making my old headers hot the frame tubes.
Just my .02 :)

I ended up going with a pair of Dynatech mounts for the motor rather than the Polylocs:

And an Energy suspension transmission mount:

Once they're fitted I'll report back!

Steve Payne fitted the Mitymounts for me last weekend. It turn out that the original passenger side (RHD) mount had sheared completely! On the drive back home, 30-odd miles, engine vibes seemed much reduced, with no evidence of harshness. Blipping the throttle at standstill showed much less 'leaping around' from the motor than previously.
No comments on the trans mount yet as we didn't fit that, as the box is off to Dr Cannonball in a fortnight for a hop-up.

Bruce, how did you install the limiters and where did you get them? - Thanks!

http://www.engine-swaps.com" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; makes the limiter as well as the polylock mounts and etc. I have since removed it and now use a modified set of magnum mounts from schumaker. The torque limiting "strap" is on my Barracuda now. It was a PIA to install on the Interceptor.
