A bit of an update on this project:

Over the last two weeks I have installed a newly rebuilt 440 into this car, using Keith Black 237-040 high compression pistons and a Comp Cam 1500 - 5500. All moving parts except crank and conrods are new. Open chamber 78cc heads.

The compression ratio for this engine calculates at 10.9:1 which really worried me (and others on this forum) but I have now tuned this engine to the point where I conclude that the compression ratio is not as problematic as what I expected. It is worth noting that I live at 1400m AMSL where barometric pressure is 85kpa (101 kpa at sea level) and this may go some way towards hiding compression issues.

I was surprised that the old ECU map required extensive remapping for fuelling (and timing of course), mainly more fuel over most of the map.

Whereas before downshifting was rare, it is now even more rare. Even in 4th there is so much torque that when overtaking, acceleration is rapid enough to not have to downshift.
Best regards
Philip
