Hello. I have a 1970 Mk2 Interceptor that has only done 30k from new. The timing chain and camshaft sprocket are in very good condition, but as the sprocket has nylon teeth, I wondered if it was necessary to change due to age? Any views?
thanks
Alan

Did this to mine on Tuesday - although it turned out not to be nylon toothed, there was a lot of slack in the chain...
It was a fairly straightforward job until I insisted on checking the sump and pickup - that is a real sh!t of a job with the engine in the car (even with the front of the engine jacked up); I was actually 'assisting' a specialist as opposed to doing it all myself and combined with one or two other bits it was an 8 hour job!
The good news was that all appears to be good in the bottom end and there are no signs of nasty oil sludge anywhere We'd also tested cylinder compression earlier in the day (we worked a total of 13.5 hours!) and found a healthy and even 140 psi across all 8 pots.
Happy days!

As can been seen here from my car. The water pump needed attention tooSteve Payne wrote:All the ones I have seen recently have a few bits of the plastic missing so even though they look good its probably got a few missing.
