Just bringing this one to a close as I realised I hadn't posted a final update.
So, the short story is 'proper' isolation mounts fitted (no bolts through the middle), a new HV pump installed and oil cooler back in circuit and now all nice and quiet.
I drove around for a while with the oil cooler disconnected with a standard oil pump fitted and all was good with the world. Then engine however did run slightly hotter as I assume the oil cooler also helps to generally cool the oil and therefore the block. In the height of summer you need all the cooling you can get over here, so I opted to re-instate the oil cooler.
A few days ago we had a sub-35 degree day, so early before the heat kicked in, I swapped out the standard pump with a new HV pump and re-instated the oil cooler (and its annual oil change)
With the new isolators fitted, the engine now shows a healthy 45-50 lb" when hot with no resonance to be heard.
Going around with the stethoscope also confirms everything is humming along nicely there with no undue noises from the pump and around the general front of engine and oil filter housing areas.
Hope this little merry-go-round may help someone else at some point.
As a final pic, we managed to get away from the kids for an afternoon (handed them over to the grandparent for quality time!) and snuck to Fremantle on a hot afternoon for a drink at the beach house. Rather nice to take the missus and the mistress and neither broke down. One did however drink more than the other

Cheers
