Nice one Stevey. that's a lovely thing to do, you can't seem to get intouch with owners anymore due to all the Data Protection rubbish, those days are gone now sadly.. gone are the days when you used to know a dodgy Ole Bill who could help you with the registered keeper. On the flip of it I have a car here(not a Jensen) and I managed to find the owner who bought the car new back in 1969, I teacked him down and rang his company, told his secretary I had his car that he bought new, but he never got back to me, I tried again and she said she had put a note on his desk.. but nothing .. so what you have done here ^^^ is great .. Well done and keep your good humor up Ole ChapRAP72 wrote:Reunited a previous owner with the current owner of his car today.
Very nice to be able to reunite a past and current owner. I saw a post on one of the Facebook pages and managed to identify the current registration number using the cross reference spreadsheet. Got in touch with the current owner who, in turn got in touch with the person asking for his dad. Added a few photos to the Album Page too. see http://www.joc.org.uk/Interceptor_Mk_1/ ... _2HGA.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
Hopefully they will send old photos and i will be able to add that to the History of the car.

Re: surviving Mk1s
further to the request for info on 115/3085 the previous owner sent a great email about his ownership which i have added to the page for the car. The son also sent a photo of his mum in the car in 1974 and that is added too see http://www.joc.org.uk/Interceptor_Mk_1/ ... ory_1.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
Re: surviving Mk1s
I have now modified my spreadsheet to try and capture the condition of any cars I record/ update. Would any mk1 owner just email me with the chassis number in the subject line and condition in the body of the email. I have 're-found' 17 of the 20 cars I recorded as being alive this year. But I have dropped the 3 that I am not sure of. Hopefully it will be a good indication of 'on the road' 'under restoration' and as seen 'for sale'
the 17 by the missed is a check total against cars seen Next to missed is a zero [not shown] indicating my figures match. honest.

Re: surviving Mk1s
They've been breaking that for about 5 years now. I think it was with Copart before?
It isn't an "INTERCEPTOT" either!

I emailed but yes it could be 115/3003. what do you think? http://www.joc.org.uk/Interceptor_Mk_1/115_3003.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
Re: surviving Mk1s
i would put money on that being the same car
looks like copart chester (part of my business is moving salvage for copart to the likes of douglas valley etc)
** note
when buying high end cars from car transplants, hills salvage etc do not expect the discounted supply of parts they promise
i bought a porsche from trannys a while back with the promise of the gearbox being supplied at 30% off waited 6 months to be told it all goes to douglas valley

Re: surviving Mk1s
we do have another survivor in Belgium that's 380 or 37.11%
on the breakdown of the condition of cars that is going slower than I expected. Obviously people have lots to do in the lockdown.
but of the 49 seen/recorded this year
25 are on the road. 51.02%
14 under restoration. 28.57%
10 seen as for sale. 20.41%
for those of you that realise I have edited this post Pymmie reminded me the Bronze car was http://www.joc.org.uk/Interceptor_Mk_1/115_2716.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Re: surviving Mk1s
Good News and Bad news
bad news - 2 more scrapped cars identified
good news - a new survivor in France 115/2526
On the welcome page I have not listed everyone who has confirmed the condition of their cars but the figures now stand at 75 replies:
On the Road 38 - 50.67%
Restoration 25 - 33.33%
For Sale 12 - 16%
Of course I did not consider a car being 'on the road and for sale' so a couple of replies have indicated that so I split the numbers between the 2.
Thanks for those who have responded I am sending out batches of email to all my contactsI think I am as far as K so don't feel left out if you haven't had an email

Re: surviving Mk1s
there is one i know of locally (15 years ago!) its a mk1 manual and the guy that owned it told me it was the test car for the webasto (i think) sunroof.
something in my mind remembers him saying it was the 5th production car although cannonball may have mentioned this car as its on the same street he lives on.

Re: surviving Mk1s
Well the Good News and Bad News I mentioned turned out to be Bad News and Bad New. The new chassis number turned out to be wrong and when corrected it was one I had already noted. Still the replies have started to overwhelm me and now stand at 91, Of those:
49 are on the road (53.85%)
31 are under restoration (34.07%)
11 are for sale (12.09%)
however a few replies have said on the road and possibly for sale including a nice looking LHD in South Africa.

Re: surviving Mk1s
I have just seen a post that Pat Forster posted on facebook https://www.facebook.com/wayne.fitzgera ... 1MTY3NTg3/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
at the end there is a mention of a mk1 '3DPO' although the commentary says" well known in the Jensen world" but I am not sure I have it listed. Anyone know or claim the car?
