That Mark 1 Triumph 2000, hit a nerve. Spent many thousands of miles in one, travelling across Europe as a kid, my dad pulling an Astral caravan which had 2 doors, one on each side, for continental touring. Great memories, and haven't seen one in a long time.

Here is another one for you Kevin. Completely original even down to the excellent paint.
Was part of the Club Triumph Border Raiders tour, pictured in Kelso last Sunday.

Thanks Dion, I recently came across a Triumph 1300, much the same style as the 2000 but smaller, and all original. The smell was pure Triumph, took me back to my childhood immediately and I'd forgotten that the window winder handles fold away :D

Kev.. There was a man who lived next door but 1 to us when I was growing up, he was always "Tap Taping" something, very clever man, I remember he converted a Triumph 2000.. or it may have been the 1300 model, but I am sure it was a MK1, anyway he converted it himself to run on gas!! this was when I was around 8 years old, so 46 years ago now.. so that was 1972 from my calcs..... it sounded like a bag of spanners I remember :lol: :lol: ..
I am happy of these things that all remind us of our childhood, it's a great feeling these fond memoriesImage

What is so weird about that then Grant?
I converted my T2000 Mk1 in 2001 to LPG - which is gas of course. It ran very good, smoother even compared to petrol. Ran it for a few years until the rear wheel arch rot became too much.
I also have converted my current Jag 420 to run on LPG (and petrol) :D
@Keith: I don't recall the Mk1 having fold away window winders. 1300 only I think :?:

Sadly not real but a static replica called the MK805 Spitfire (I googled it later, it is based on a real Spitfire and MK805 was a serial number rather than a type).

Spotted first hour in Thailand. Too slow to get the front end but looked like a 50's Jag from the front

Ah yes the old police specials (in Cornwall) , not a bad state for a fairly new car :-)
