That looks great. I like the louvres and headlamp grilles.

One Capri followed by another, my Consul Capri and my daughters Ford Angia at Margate earlier this week for filming of the Sam Mendes film “Empire of Light”. Lots of other vehicles you may be able to make out but no Jensens. The director said it was to classy and vehicles of this type would not have been in Margate. I believe it is a film on the Mods revival in the 70’s

The glass work of the Consul Capri and a P1800 look nearly identical.

My uncle Colin, younger brother of Eric, was head of Styling at Ford GB when the Anglia, Consul Classic etc. were created. He was not particularly happy with the reverse rake rear screens on the Anglia and Classic, a design feature which had been imposed from above, so he set about designing the Capri on the quiet, without the knowledge of his bosses. When they saw the model however, they liked it and gave the go-ahead for production. This was the model he was most proud of from his time at Ford GB and later had one shipped over to Detroit after he had moved there. Before that, Henry Ford had one shipped over to the US for his wife to drive.

Colin in the US with his personal Capri.

He once told me on the phone that incorporating the reverse rake rear screen on the Classic made him very popular with management because it was made of flat glass and saved several ££s per car compared to the popular wrapround rear screens of its contemporaries.
"Now that chassis number is particularly interesting ‘cos it’s the one after the one before, which is the one after mine, not many people know that"
