Classic cars on the road
Re: Classic cars on the road
A mate of mine sent me a pic of this that he spotted on the M4 on Saturday...

Nice picture. Carpets look great...

Chance encounter at a petrol station took me back to the sixties.

Sorry, not on the road, but I thought the picture was worth posting. Autobau Collection/Museum in Romanshorn. A private collection, with a few cars on loan, I gather. There was a Vector on display (a replica), and the man next to me had tears in his eyes.

A very nice Ami yesterday. My parents had one of these as their first car. I remember the trip to the sea with it when I was about 5 years old.

„A trip to the sea“ - must be a 30 miles round trip in the Netherlands
I own some of the odd Jensen
Re: Classic cars on the road
Actually it would have been around 80 miles one way. Take into account that most of this would have been non-motorway, it would have taken hours to get there.
We lived near the eastern border with Germany. One "advantage" of that was that apart from the two nation TV channels we could receive three German channels. Not that this was always a pleasure - I remember the frequent horrible family shows with Holzacker-Büben and Schlager musik

I wish we were also 80 miles from the sea... I also had German TV growing up, thank god!

Re: Classic cars on the road
Felix,
something what I always propose: We give Switzerland one or two square-km of our coast and Switzerland gives Germany a summit (at least higher than 4000m).
WIn-win situation! You can establish the Swiss-Marine and we have a higher mountain than the Ösis!

Deal! Who do we propose this to?Anton wrote:Felix,

Additionally, a hyperfast tunnel connection from Zurich straight down to the Meditarranean would also be nice. I will ask Elon Musk, if he is not on this forum and reading this. Travel time should not be more than 25 minutes and the return ticket should be no more than 25 Euros to make this feasible for me to go have dinner there on a weekday. I'm a bit worried that this place by the ocean will be full of people from Zurich and will lose much of its charm, but we'll deal with that later.

Re: Classic cars on the road
I don't understand all this mountain thing. Our highest is 1345m and all you can do with it is walk to the top, see nothing because it's mainly raining or foggy, then walk back down again. You can't even drive your car upAnton wrote:Felix,

Why would you want coast, we have miles of it, and all it does is erode the country making it smaller, so less roads to drive on and more congested
Now a tunnel direct from UK to Italian coast would be good, we wouldn't be hijacked by French port or air traffic controller strikes.
Felix, your map confuses me though, I recognise the shape, and some places but have never heard of Malland or Venedig, amongst others. Can we have the correct spellings please.
