Classic cars on the road
Re: Classic cars on the road
That's kinda why I wanted to get the test passed today... To allow me a bit of pleasure when there's the need to escape. Even if that is just to the end of the bypass and back.
I like the line about keeping the car away from other people... Is that incase they catch car-ona virus?

Spotted in Buckinghamshire last week.

That’s a nice looking rear end! What is it, I can’t read the badge.

Wow. Knuckle-bitingly pretty.
It is interesting to compare to the 541. Similar looks, both have a large capacity mundane engine (Austin straight 6 vs. Ford straight 6), but the AC is strictly a 2-seater. Both introduced in 1954 and carried on selling into the early 1960s.

We are already at that stage (called Alert level 4 over here). Only allowed to drive to purchase essential items. But petrol is classed as an essential item! I tried to argue that I need to buy petrol every time I drive the car, so a sort of self-fulfilling circular thing. It did not go down well.Steve Payne wrote:I think you can still use your classic cars, if you do use it just keep away from other people. If the weather is as forecasted this weekend I am planning on taking mine out so we can go for a walk somewhere why we still can. With things going the way they are we might not even be allowed out of our houses other than for work and shopping soon.Richie wrote:I might not be able to go anywhere in it for the foreseeable, but at least mine has a fresh mot certificate as of today to keep her on the road for another year. Re: Classic cars on the road
Had a legitimate reason for a drive today, had to pick up the children from their mountain exile. Sparse traffic, perfect weather. Pretty much followed a BMW M4 for an hour on the highway and an other half an hour up the mountains. He clearly did not want to be overtaken, and must have been a bit exasperated that I kept on popping up in the rear view mirror On the way home I passed this Citröen going astonishingly quick, maybe riding in the slipstream of the car ahead.

Spotted these two classics in different locations today while on my
daily exercise under lockdown and just minutes from my house.
You see so much more on foot.

It’s amazing what you miss through daily life if mostly driving. The 6x6 is in nice condition, much better than the one at Brooklands and the rear window graphic in the Herald is cool.Pymmie wrote:Spotted these two classics in different locations today while on my

Saw these two Golf's practicing self distancing in my local shop car park before lockdown. Very few cars in the car park today when I rode by.

Always astonishing to see how sad modern cars look in comparison...

Re: Classic cars on the road
That Hilux doesn't look standard... just might be known as a "sleeper"
Only working half a day now.

Re: Classic cars on the road
About 10 years ago this thing burbled passed my house. It looks like it’s been parked here ever since, it could end up as a good source of engine parts.
Shame to see it wasting away now.
