Hmmm a Renault Caravelle hidden in the old abandoned gold mine.
It's like something off Scooby Doo.

Respect for those who try to keep such an american beast on the road. Although it is not used much by the looks of it :D

Photographed this in Ushuaia (claimed to be the most Southern town in the world), in Argentina. I like the door lock (bicycle chain wrapped around two handles)!

I see nothing ignoble about chain and padlock to secure your classic car.
I had exactly the same on the boot of my first car in 1968, a 100E Anglia.
I agreed to buy it for £10 but the seller then had someone run into the back of him before handing it over to me.
As a result of this 'meeting' the boot wouldn't shut so he wrapped a chain and padlock around the bumper and boot handle and all my valuables were safe in the boot for the entire time I had the car before I was obliged to take it to the scrapyard where I got £5 for it.
The seller was a decent sort and reduced the price by 20%.
The best value car I ever owned. £3 depreciation for 8 months motoring which allowed me to save up £210 for a 1953 Daimler Conquest.

PS I've just remembered that he didn't charge me for the chain and padlock so I think overall I broke even!

Thanks Grant but there is even more good news.
I've just looked and I've still got the chain and padlock and the keys still work.

Stuff of legend, you couldn't write these stories, and we all have them. Perhaps we all ought to get together , write our bizarre memories down, and publish a book, got to be better than any thing Barbara Cartland wrote.
