Re: Classic cars on the road

Post by witkowski »

We are just back from a week in Cuba. It was wonderful to see so many classic cars on the streets. There are the "restored" ones for giving tourists rides (see the line of them in one of the photos) but the fascinating thing was to see all these cars being used as daily drivers. We visited a car shop doing restorations and the owner said that once the USA embargo is lifted, all these unrestored cars will go to the US and the former owners will buy reliable Hondas, Nissans, Subarus etc. Many of the tourist cars have transplanted Honda and Nissan engines.

Saw only three European cars: a Mercedes 190, Morris Minor and a Ford Popular.

Or, knowing the vagaries of the Interceptor wiring circuit, possibly a headlight on when it shouldn't be!

I've seen this a few times outside a car servicing/repair place in Didcot. Looks to be a daily user.

Something doesn't look right to me. Is that one of those fibreglass alternatives......or do I need to go to Specsavers (again)?

Sold in 1996 as a 1959 3000 Mk1.
Registration No. : MFO 812
Chassis No. : BT 7 4420
Engine No. : 29 DRUH 5638

There is a small dent on the top of the front wing, so unlikely to be glassfibre!
