Lamps in Side Grilles

I have noticed many Interceptor pictures with small lamps at the top of the side grilles. I suspect these are turn indicators. Is this an updated requirement for MOT, or simply a preference fitted by owners? Thanks in Advance!

they are indicators and are standard fit - i beleive that they were moved from the wing to the grille with the introduction of the MkIII...

It'll also depend on the market. Mk III UK cars will have these 'in-grill-indicators' as standard fitting whereas US spec cars won't.
My car was destined for export to Switzerland and seems to be mainly built to UK specs.
