How much Platinum in a Spark Plug?

Post by RAP72 »

After the news yesterday about catalytic Converters being stolen for the Platinum content, I was wondering how much platinum is in the tip of a plug. and how many i would have to collect to make an ounce.

OK so I have retired again - got to keep the brain active.

No idea but I remember reading a while back that platinum deposits from cats at places with heavy but slow traffic flow, especially roundabouts and junctions where cars were stopping and pulling away were almost reaching a level where it would be commercially viable to recover it from the road sweeping vehicles.

If that is the case, I wonder how much is washing away down the sides of the M25?

I suspect there is more titanium in hip joints, but then again it's a little more difficult to harvest.

Snap! (pardon the pun...) The titanium drill broke whilst my dentist was doing a root canal filling a couple of weeks back, so now I take pride in my titanium-reinforced bionic tooth...

John, you are having a hip joint in your mouth?

Dutch type of a weird obsession? Do you try to smoke everything?

But you are right, things like that can be discussed here in the Forum.
You may not find followers but people might be interested in how you do it.
