Kevin Birch wrote: Fri Jul 15, 2022 9:05 am Hi Fekix, don't see a problem with that tyre, it's only flattish on the bottom, rest of it looks round so should be OK :D
If you are going to bin your old tyres (and pay for them to be recycled etc), we would happily give them a long retirement. Can collect in Zurich area. Our Jensen has spent too long under a tarp and the tyres have rotted. Would be good to have some with genuine Le Mans provenance! Completely understand if you have similar plans for them, wouldn't want to see them in the bin though.
They're yours, glad they're going to a good home😀 Hopefully the new ones will arrive next week. You can pick them up at our house whenever, but if you announce yourself I'll see that there is a cold beer in the fridge

... unless Kevin wants them for his car

Bleeding nipples was me. Maybe to technical my fault.

Perhaps, It would have been better to have said “ Bled the brakes building up to an Mot.” Then just a picture.

Dont think anyone should be excluded from responding to “What did you do with your car today” just because they've done something technical. That certainly wasn't my intention when I started the thread.
Often people do things to their car, simple things, but don’t want to say because they feel uncomfortable starting a new topic just to say they've done a little something, its about sharing stuff, I think. And I decided this was the best place.
Anyways yesterday visited Jeremy Clarkson’s Farm and bought cow juice😁.

And today removed horns from air cleaner in preparation for fitting cold air inlets.

Spent the weekend replacing the door frames on the FF2 adjusting them to seal but close easily always takes me some time.

The other fit that I was concerned about was on the new bonnet, despite reading that new bonnets don’t fit, I decided I had no option but to try, so it was with some trepidation that I got a new SP bonnet from Roby’s.

Fit is great I am very pleased, it needs a bit of finishing off on some of the corners they are not quite tight enough but half an hour and it will be ready to paint.

Craig was telling me they laser cut the metal for the Louvre’s and then press them out it looks very even I am very happy with it.

Will be selling the old 1/2 louvred bonnet in due course, someone has welded the skin on the frame rather than spot welding it - needs the heads of the weld spots grinding back to tidy it up. I would have needed to take the skin off to add Louvre to it and it just did not make sense.

Cold air intake seemed to make a big difference to performance on my 383. Before/after runs with a mobile phone dyno app would be a fun way to spend a weekend!

My son did a school project on air filters on my car a few years ago, cold air reduced the air temp at the filter by up t0 20C. Unfortunately the cold air version used a different filter housing and the power actually went down and our conclusion was that the filter housing configuration was quite important for power. Couple of snippets below, PM if you are interested in more details.

Friday 22nd. Hugh sargent went to the Queens Baton Relay at the British Motor Museum in Gaydon. Loved the sound of his car. Steve Payne went as well, damn that man his blooming drivers door opens and closes perfectly. I went too, 😁 Steve gave me a list of things to do🤪

What’s anyone else doing with or to their car?

Hi Kenny38,
Steve never started this thread. I did. Brett.
It wasn't intended to be about the the technical aspects of our cars per se. It was intended to be about what one is doing with it, where are you going, did you drive it, what fun things are you doing with it rather than to it.
Or am I confused about the issue? Won’t be the 1st or last time. 😳
Brett

Brett, don't worry about Kenny. He is blaming me for my comment as a Moderator, safe in the knowledge that he is half the world away, and immune from physical retaliation. Most of Kenny's lively posts are fairly tongue in cheek, although some have the kernel of truth in them. Carry on as you are!

p.s. I am a Stephen, not a Steve, like Stephen Fry and Stephen Hawking.

physical retaliation
:D :D
Maybe not physical retaliation, but you can make us go stand in the corner?

PS still have a flat and waiting for the new tires, and I'm getting impatient. Also ordered new centre caps for the Dunlop wheels on EBay, but too late, and they're not here yet either. At least I think ordered the right caps, but maybe not. Was planning to use the C-V8 in about a week and a half for a short trip so I still have a bit of time to get it sorted, even if it may mean to provisionally fix the flat tire.

Stephen, are you any relation to Fry or Hawking? I have gone to local village international police station and asked for an AVO against you. Don't quite know what that is but very fat desk sergeant said over his plate of chips and a cream bun that "these are serious charges, and I will have to refer to The Hague info sheet". "Do you know Rocky from Arizona? Appears Mr Trump speaks highly of him". Is the Pantera a kit car? Winter is coming. kenny38

Thought I’d check on the Mopar Orange box I’d moved behind the splash panel on my MK1 FF. Not the ideal location or positioning - but thankfully it was dry and clean due to successfully sealing the edge of the splash panel.

I’d relocated it there to overcome occasional engine fluttering at idle - caused by high temp in the engine bay. Unlike my Interceptor, there isn’t the opportunity to site it ahead of the radiator on the FF. Hence I joined 2 harnesses together and moved it to the wheel arch. Problem solved.

I’ve kept the box locating screws on the inner wing along with a spare harness and orange box in my toolkit so I can (hopefully) get running again quickly if the existing one fails.

The FF2 looks very nice in profile there! Well worth the effort by the looks.
