Help with Interceptor Alternator procurement in Europe

Post by Richard_2 »

Hi all,
I have been on holiday in Europe in my SP and the alternator has failed. I ordered a new one from Appleyards, but it is stuck in customs and I don't know when I will actually get it and really need the car repaired by Sunday evening.

Just wondered if anyone in near me, l am near Kitzbuhel in Austria, has any ideas or an alternator I could borrow. I still have the original single pulley set up.

Any help much appreciated.

Hi Richard

There's a member in Lienz about 90 minutes away who may have one, I can ask tomorrow morning. Could you go and pick it up? Or there is the Landyman Garage in Anthering who have worked on Jensens, also about an hour and 15 minutes away. But I don't know if they have a spare one or are open on the weekend.

Just texted with Jakob in Lienz and he should have one. He's in his garage tomorrow morning at 9, give him a call, I'll PM the number.

It maybe the regulator that's gone west Richard, just something to bear in mind before you strip and swap the AlternatorImage

All praise goes to Jakob Troger. I think they got it sorted, it was apparently a relatively quick fix, but I think they began at midnight...

We should maybe make a map of Europe with contacts and parts suppliers, and people with a stock of parts...

Massive thanks to Jacob and Felix for contacting him.

We finished at 1.30 in the morning and I drove back to the hotel in Kirchberg, arriving at 3.00. A fantastic drive up mountain passes without another car on the road. Have driven to Blaustein today and even in stationary traffic with the fans and a/c on the voltage never went below 13V. Before fitting the new alternator it was 11V. Problem definitely sorted.

Passes at night are indeed spectacular :D Glad your SP is back on the road- I honestly didn't think that your chances were all too great. Jakob may have just as well been on some mountain top... See you in Le Mans, if I understood Zac correctly.

Hi Felix, the email I sent to people on the Le Mans trip was to warn them that they would now have to pay import duty on any parts sent to Europe, with the resulting delays. Must admit it wasn't something I had considered.

Splendid idea. I have started an excel document with a list of names, addresses, telephone, mobile, e-mail, website, types catered for, business/private, service/parts/info etc.
So now it is down to the input of the forum members!!!
