£500 Jensen umbrella at Beaulie
Hi all
Saw this Jensen umbrella on sale at a very wet Beaulie Spring Autojumble for a mere £500. Are Jensen owners made of money?

Re: £500 Jensen umbrella at Beaulie
Maybe the vendor knows its not JOC and thinks it must be an old "official" club run by Jensen Motors?
For the avoidance of doubt - it was not!

Maybe it's supply and demand? On a dry day it's a pound.

Just noticed that the vendor's trailer is from St.Albans. Only about 20 miles from where "The Jensen Club" was based in Buckinghamshire.

Seems like a bargain for £15 in spring 1997.

Re: £500 Jensen umbrella at Beaulie
I believe 'The Jensen Club' was founded by Duncan and Caroline Clarke who were kicked out of the JOC for having started a rival club!
There must be a good story about that which someone can tell us?

I believe Caroline is still a welcomed person at club events.
And Duncan...?

Re: £500 Jensen umbrella at Beaulie
Duncan and Caroline tried to highlight issues within the club and with the spares service back in the late 90s. They got fed up with nothing being done so left to start up a new club.
When I bought my SP & (half a) Healey in 2000 I joined both clubs.
The issues with the club were sorted outed out by Ed Pillinger and later Alan Smith.
As Stephen says Caroline is more than welcome to attend club events, I have certainly seen her at one of the recent Internationals

Re: £500 Jensen umbrella at Beaulie
I have been a member of the Jensen Club as well. I think up till the end. The way I remember is that although the magazine was not very attractive to look at, it provided better technical support then the JOC magazine and Duncan did help out many people in his own silent style. Caroline was the PR and organising talent and brilliant at that. They have gone their separate ways and I met Caroline a few years back at the JOC International. I occasionally had email contact with Duncan. He is still selling Jensen bits on eBay.co.uk.
They fell out with the JOC before I joined either the JOC or Jensen Club and I do not know the details nor do I wish to. The JOC now seems to regret their handling of the split up.

So I was told by several prominent JOC people in the past 10 or more years.
Better leave it at that. It was all a long time ago.

Yes, good call Kees,
Especially as you know nothing at all of what went on at the time.

That's a bit harsh Keith. True, but harsh. Your post is a bit like some my wife criticises me for posting!

Don't worry Mike. Keith just speaks his mind, so do I. I would rather have it that way.
