A Difficult Day. End of a Near 20 Year Era. Sold Car...

Post by Richie »

I will miss this magnificent view.

But, after nearly 20 years with me, I'm pleased that she's off to a fine new home. That adds a bright silver lining to a dark cloud.

Due to the friendships I've made, I have every intention of remaining in this fine club - the membership of which is of course people, and not cars. So I'll see you at the bar at an international again soon.

And it's to the so many people who have offered support and technical help over the years that I'd like to thank. That has made the privilege of ownership even more pleasurable.

The end of a very successful era.

Fairly near to me, so I'll keep my eyes open at shows etc. Saffron Walden is the only place I know named after a crocus.

No need, I bought it, and actually live in a small village outside Saffron Walden.

It had been my intention to start a new thread, as the car is temporarily with a marque specialist having some work done
and I underestimated the urgency Richie would feel in announcing this sale on a thread within hours of the car being collected.

The car will not however be stored in/at my home/village, as I have had the collecting bug for so long that car numbers predicated the need for a separate, secure unit, very nearby, in a Herts village.

(Saffron Walden area/s sit in an odd post/county idiosyncrasy; we have CB (Cambs) postcodes, and if I walk the dogs up the road there is a notional triangle,
if you walk a few steps South from there, you are in Essex, walk a few steps North East, you are in Cambridgeshire, walk a few steps North West, you are in Hertfordshire)

I will endeavor to keep you updated at a later time when I have the car and one of my own number plates off a V778 applied - not necessarily in that order.... :D

Best wishes to all for the interest.

Hi Mark.

The town is such a strange place for postcodes and just a beautiful town with so much history, one of the few places I know that still has a Leperstone
The car will sit nicely in your area.

I hope you have as much enjoyment with the car as Richie did and look forward to meeting up one day
Not too far away from me either
Only working half a day now.
