Hose replacement

Post by mojo »

I'm looking to replace all of the coolant, fuel and vacuum hoses on my C-V8 MkIII, as it will (hopefully) soon be ready to go back on the road after more than a decade of being laid up.

One of the things that I've noticed about the random selection of hoses currently on it is the huge variation in the state of them. Some have stood up well and are reasonably flexible, while others are almost rock hard and have lost almost all of their flexibility.

What do other owners recommend in terms of choosing hoses to replace them with? I can just buy online, and generally what turns up is unbranded. Is there a better way to ensure that I get something that lasts well?

Is it worth using stainless braided? From a cosmetic point of view I would prefer not, as I don't personally think that that type of external finish looks right on a 60's car.

[Update: UK-made SAEJ30R6 - if it's wrong, don't tell me - it's already bought]
