I think it will take someone in the club with the time to:

- regularly follow social media for members posting about their cars - and to both log and at a suitable time contact the person to work up a supporting statement;

- network with area reps for suitable cars/owners (or the Area Coordinator - assuming the need for the role is now clear);

- network with each model Registrar;

- network with Nic Cooper who has a raft of member's car pictures, some of which, no doubt, are stand out examples.

- network with John Lane, the club archivist - for the same reason as above, but more likely from an historical perspective (long term owner, car with interesting provenance).

- interogate the club database for suitable candidates assuming it's still fit for purpose and being regularly populated with car and owner info (and if it has an effective flag and search facility).

- network with those enthusiasts who run model specific web-sites (e.g MK1 and G -Series) for newsworthy additions to list - and follow up.

- network with key specialists who advertise in the club mag for potential examples.

If no one can be found who is prepared to put aside time (and I'm not offering my services), best stop flogging a dead horse, drop the thread, and concentrate on other key club work.

Hope this helps /stimulates debate.

Thanks Stuart. Let’s see what happens in terms of response to this post. The record of how many people that actually read / comment on postings is very, very small. Benefit vs Effort springs to mind.

The last car of the month back in March had 800 views.

I have emailed 3 people and had responses from 2, so there will be a car of the month later this month. Should be worth waiting for.

Both Karan and myself have emailed people before and not had a response, but hopefully we will get a few cars lined up.

Thanks Zac. Replies back on postings are very, very few but it is refreshing to hear that there were 800 views on the March posting. I also enquire yesterday at a local car meet. Good people on the forum - would you like to produce an article / make a submission? Please contact me and I can facilitate accordingly.

Kind regards,
Karan

People don't always like to reply on a post, there are many that just like to read the story and see the pictures,

It would be good to get some more engagement going - it stimulate encouragement for all. Very few are actually replying on this post or private messaging me.

I like the car of the month feature, especially when it’s mine, but I only have one Interceptor.

I’m not sure how to stimulate more interest, but maybe just skip the months that you don’t have any submissions?

Also line up people in advance if you can, and queue them up.

Rocky

PS. You could also cheat, and fill in months you don’t have a C.O.M. with pictures from the virtual concourse of 2020 until the system gets rolling.

I also vote that Kenny38 has to mandatorily provide pictures of his car.

I think your expecting to much Karan, Its a bit like the articals for the club magazine or getting involved organising activities, people are just happy to read what's going on... You can't always expect things to come to you, sometimes you have to lead.

It is really not about things coming to me but more instead of things coming to us as a collective - this is what I am aspiring for in my tenure as it will make us better. I am still very much positive about things with respect to JOC and I hope to remain so. This is an informed perspective when I compare us to other car clubs of which I am a member and I see the personal time that our volunteers put into delivering a service. Please, let’s park our trading of emails on this subject as others may be entertained or bored by it and we could probably better use the time for other things. Happy to take a call or pm at anytime as the vice/chairman.

Kind regards,
Karan

I think it would be good for each area rep to try to do a local car each 12-18 months.

It just takes a bit of effort from a few to get this up and running.

John, Constructive suggestion and it’s in line with my own thinking / aspirations but mindful that we are all volunteers. Perhaps a diary that can be populated so we have a flow / pipeline. Let’s me wrestle with this for a bit as my mind is distracted by the vacancy of the area coordinator role of the club. Kr, Karan
