FM Converter for 8 Track

Post by Grant »

I've had a search out on Ebay for a Chrome 8 track FM converter for for about 3.5 years now, and one finally came up, it looks like an NOS one and I am thrilledImage, it came up in the States on an auction, but I managed to get the guy to take it off by offering him $100, so with shipping and import it came to $155, maybe some peeps will see it as too expensive, but it was worth it to me. >>>

Doesn’t your Foxton have an FM receiver built in?

I thought all the Clear Chet units also had them?

Does this 8-Track unit interrupt your FM with a “blank spot”, then a “clunk” every 8 minutes?

Congrats on the completion of your quest!

Rocky

Interesting bit of kit Grant, have seen these before, but with power and aerial inputs in the front. I presume this gets it connections via the contacts top and bottom, but surely this will only work on a specific Panasonic 8 track player. Nice bit of kit to have just have hanging out of the player on show :)

Now you have me concerned Kev..the connections are at the back and I don't have it in my hand yet, so maybe it won't work in our units..Here's the connections here and I maybe foolishly presumed it picked up on connections in the back of our units , I should know better as I've had mine in pieces many times but am not there to check at mo..I've bought it anyway, so I will probably have to rig something up inside :P >>>

After thinking more about what you said Kev I am sure you are right..so I have just found this for £10 so maybe I can nick some bits from inside and do a "Rig-Up" >>>

Looks nice but I am pretty sure that it will only work with a certain radio. I have an FM adaptor similar to that one that I use in my 72 Mustang that has the factory AM 8 Track and there is a spot for the antenna plug. I use a Y cable to keep the AM connected and the FM adaptor connected at the same time. :)

Yes, I am going to have to do some "Jiggery Pokery" to get it to work Mike, but I've been inside it before converting it to Ipod connection with pre-amp out's before..So I live in hope of making it a go'erImage>>
