Fantastic, especially the effort that went into the painting! There was me thinking all the hard work on the Mk1 tracking site was you slaving away in workhouse conditions. Thanks for the slaving away, but at least I know now you have a brilliant study and a great support team!

yes a Frank Wootton but it is a signed photo of a painting. Frank Wootton photographed his paintings for his records and my father managed to 'liberate' it from him. it was the painting used on the cover of a book that I also have somewhere. for the Book they added the black and white wing markings to make the plane stand out.

Thats mega- That Lanc bail-out is awesome, but sad at same time- very atmospheric.

I'm a huge fan of all that, Nic T is my fav, Frank & Robert are awesome, but we all have fav's- Robert did a Typhoon print I desp wished Nic had painted, That said wish I'd bought Typhoons at Falaise- framed and was 130 notes, what a mong not buying.

The really sad thing is these blokes are the mostly gone, These windows (prints books etc) are the last witness- been lucky to have met so many, the best generation- I should jolly well think so.

Imagine a very unassuming chap tipping up at school tomorrow to talk with the kids about how he flew Typhoon's & Tempest V's to destroy German Panzer's then later V1's, he joined the army at start, then was fed up with doing nothing, so went RAF- Ron Pottinger- a lovely man you would be lucky to meet.
Shame, esp as the 'circus' is being given away..............

This print (crap phot sorry) is signed by Ulric Stienhilper, its not his 109E, (his is in Hawkinge museum- and despite piling in, is in amazing condition) but me & my best mukka was at a thing, both bought Nic's print framed, met Ulric by chance who said- that is the action that ended my war! So thank goodness, I ripped print apart to get him to sign it etc- His story was amazing, he escaped, was caught, escaped- then ended up with IBM- and changed the world. A lovely chap, we were lucky to have shared his story, it was not the last time we met luckily-
Obest Hajo Herrmann- The master of 'strange music', a very stern man- likey wary, but when common found & passion for aircraft, a lovely warm man, just was on that side.

Tony Iveson- What a total leg-end- wont bore, look him up, BofB, transfer's to B.C, ends up dropping tallboys on Tirpitz, flew everything, Inc a visiting P-51D, who his co took out on tulip, so Tony thought, bugger it, and got it fueled & took it for a play! He got a massive bollocking, but as the type was new to Sqn's, his massive experience got him off- its all so 'commando comic' but all real- bless them, they are all gone.

This thread, Harry, Denise & my best mukka Alec, who some folks here have met.

Denise at 15, hid messages in her bike, her cover was a mobile hair dresser- 15, she was Belgian resistance.

Harry, Army- SOE, blew up everything & trained maquis, then having spent some years doing that, joined Force 136 & went to Burma to sort the pond life there- It was clear what they were doing-

My dear mate Alec (3rd from left) 1st SAS, C sqd- Paddy's unit- well enough said really-
