Jensens in Australia

Post by Stoo »

Hi everyone,
I have been tracking all Jensens in Australia for over 20 years now and have records of over 800 Jensens having been here over the years ... of course, many no longer survive or have returned to the UK now.
Next year is JCCA's 40th anniversary and as a result I would like to present a series of Powerpoints of all Jensens in Australia at the national rally in 2022.
Please note that these are only drafts and I am getting better pictures and adding more info all the time.
Feel free to download these files to peruse but be advised that I will be modifying these as I go along.
Once finished, I am entertaining the idea of using these powerpoints as a basis for a book on Jensens in Australia.
I would really appreciate it if you know of any additional cars, information or have better quality photos etc.
The links are as follows:

Hi Stoo, this is very interesting.

Re the 541 variants, I have looked at our records and confirm / highlight the following:

ch112 - agreed
ch155 - this is new to me
ch174 - agreed
ch181 - agreed
ch191 - this is new to me and as I was contacted by the long term owner (in South London, UK) very recently - therefore I think your entry is incorrect! But, you have a photo with reg MH 1222 - so which chassis is it?
ch198 - agreed

ch319 - agreed
ch326 - agreed
ch377 - agreed
ch381 - this is new to me
ch397 - agreed
ch418 - in my records as imported to Aus in 2011, but not listed in your list - apparently mentioned on this forum in July 2013 (found by using advanced search "knox" in 541 tech)
ch420 - agreed
ch453 - agreed
ch460 - agreed
ch467 - agreed

ch1043 - this is new to me (register suggests this car was in Sussex, UK in 1976 - you suggest it was imported to Australia in 1974...hmm!)
ch1078 - agreed
ch1123 - agreed

so, quite close agreement with a few gaps filled in for our 541 registrar records and one possibly missing from your list.

here is a photo of ch181 (originally the rear body had special wing treatment - aka "batmobile")

Hi Stoo

You will be aware that i have been reviewing all of the Jensen Interceptor variants and their history and current status
I have to date, current or historical information on circa 1,640 cars

I may well have earlier information/history on a number of cars on your lists
Would this be of interest to you

It will take me some time to review all of the cars that you have listed but i could then provide information in a standard excel format on each car that i have information on

Kind regards

Thank you everyone for your help so far. It is VERY, VERY appreciated.
I would love any additional information I can get and an Excel spreadsheet would be fantastic, Jim.
All the very best,

Stoo

If you can me a few days i will run through all the cars you have listed
I will then add any cars where my last entry still shows as an Australian car

The spreadsheet from my circa 6,500 cars (46,000 lines) will be in Excel format in Chassis No order
The spreadsheet to cover your cars will be somewhat shorter

Kind regards

Hi everyone,
Thank you for your help so far.
As a result of the powerpoints I have published to date, I have found a number of additional Jensens previously not known and have been able to update small details associated with a handful of others.
I appreciate the support and if the enthusiasm is there, I will certainly look into the possibility of releasing this information in a book.

Stewart

THank you for the further update of cars on Australia

I have incorporated your information into my spreadsheet and have created a new spreadsheet of all of the "Australian" cars that you have provided information on and i have included the information that i have gained through my research

If you would like to send me a private message with your e-mail address - i will forward this "Australian" spreadsheet to you where i am to date
I believe that you will find a large amount of interesting information on many of the cars

Kind regards

Hi everyone,
As you know, I have been very busy compiling a record of all Jensens known to have ever existed in Australia. Of course, many of these cars are no longer her … some have been smashed, some have rusted in to oblivion, whilst others have been exported back to the UK or to other parts of the world.
To date, we have over 800 Jensens that have been here at one time or another and of course, from time to time, new cars are brought to our attention as either cars I was not previously aware of or as new arrivals in this country.
I appreciate the support and if the enthusiasm is there, I will certainly look into the possibility of releasing this information in a book.
This is my 4th draft now and cover all Jensen models known here.
The early Jensens – H Type, Early Interceptor, 541 models
Jensen C-V8 – Mk1, Mk2 & Mk3
Jensen FF – Mk1, Mk2 & Mk3
Jensen Interceptor Mk1
Jensen Interceptor Mk2
Jensen Interceptor Mk3 128/ series
Jensen Interceptor Mk3 136/ series
Jensen Interceptor Mk3 Series 4
Jensen SP
Jensen Convertible, Coupe & GT
Jensen Healey Mk1
Jensen Healey Mk2
In the latest edition, I have tried to incorporate 2 photos of each car where possible, showing photos of the car at another time, and then a second photo of the car in recent times or when last known.
As always, I would really appreciate any feedback, additional information or photos.
These Powerpoint Presentations can all be viewed at:
https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/ ... sp=sharing
Enjoy.
Thank you again.
