During lockdown I tried to find a most valuable publication, without success. Tried to reconcile myself I'd inadvertently thrown it out with the weeks' old newspapers for the greater good of the planet. But no, praise the Lord, I found my hard copy (October 2008 Edition) amongst some other stored, treasured, documentation.
Now, some of you will know (or have guessed) I worked in the Civil Service for 35 years before bailing out at 55 because I could stand it no longer. Perhaps because of that, the Lazy Civil Servant publication (surely written by Civil Servants) strikes a humorous cord with me - and I think stands the test of time well.
So, during these Lockdown days, may I suggest you pour yourself an alcoholic drink, sit back, and read this wonderful and remarkably short publication (given it was written by Civil Servants)

It is, without doubt, bloo*y funny.
I've been feeling depressed recently and feel I should share this.

This no longer applies merely to Civil Servants!
Looks like a great read!
Thanks

It could have been corporate propaganda from a number of organisations.
Thanks Stu, brightened my day up.
I remember having a flurry of mini-posters through our works email until the "adults" stopped them along the line:-
"Hold a meeting - the popular alternative to doing work"
Ah, happy days................

I just watched Vanishing Point for the first time this morning while defrosting the washing machine (it was cold here last night). Nick's Garage (youtube) was working on different Kowalski cars, finally the penny drops, Kowalski is not one of his customers but a movie character. Google did the rest. Perhaps if Kowalski read that pdf he could have taken his job less seriously, and lowered his objectives. There would be no need for a movie then either.

Glad you liked it Shaun.
There's quite a few typos in the 2009 addition (due to laziness?). Oh, and I think someone else is now using the web address mentioned in the document. When I looked at it many years ago it had a message along the lines of: sorry this website isn't being updated, we've all retired. Which seemed the perfect ending.

Excellent! Great reading while I'm buried in snow.

Hold on! I've just realised that I AM a civil servant, in your parlance.
I'd better cirulate this text book to my staff.

Glad you guys like it too.
Hey Sespie, for your sake don't give your staff ideas.....unless of course you're playing 'you know that they know that you know' mind games with them. Ah, the joys of managing staff...
Defrosting the washing machine John? That's heroic. I baulk at loading and unloading ours!
