It might be worth asking the National Motor Museum in Beaulieu who have a huge motoring archive library if they have a recording. Apparently they have a recording of ITV's 1970 ' Turnaround Man ' documentary on Carl Duerr.
I did have this on Video years ago..but it seems to have gone walkies over various house moves!!

Hello Grant,
That's a shame it's gone walkies. Did you record it from a tv repeat in the 80s ? I'd love to watch it. I've searched for a copy once or twice. The only copy I know of is in Beaulieu, which I believe was screened for some club members once at the museum.

Hi Simon :D ..Someone loaned it to me back in the 80's, I think yes it was recorded from the TV, it was really good, well I thought it was anyway, I think looking back I must have returned it although I didn't want to!! The subject got raised a couple of years ago again, and I said I would love to get another copy, Tony Marshall who used to work at the factory put me intouch with someone who was supposed to get me another copy, but it never happened, maybe if you tried the Old "Pathe" ? Do you know which TV channel broadcasted it Simon?..if we did I think you could get a copy from there, but saying that, if you search on here in the search bar above "Carl Duerr" then you can read an old thread about it Simon, the problem is when I just found that thread for you after a search the browser doesn't give me the link, so frustrating, but anyway, on there you can see where I was asking Tony about getting me a copy and there is more info on that thread Simon,..Hey, another thing is this Simon..In the 80's when I watched it, Carl Duerr insisted that he had a lap in the afternoon on the board room table, he said when he awaoke he woke up "Bright Eyed and Bushy Tailed" ..I still say it to this day to my wife to wind her up, I say at about 3 pm "Oh Pops, I think I will have a Napp ..so that I can wake up Bright Eyed and Bushy Tailed".. the look on her face is a picture..she doesn't want me napping and nor do I for that matter..I'm too busy :D

Hi Matt,
Welcome to the Forum.
This is the book Stuart mentions. I found it very informative, but still sent my Carter 4682S to Dave. I've included the contents. If you need any part let me know and I'll scan the relevant section and email it to you.

Matt
You probably got these "instructions" with your rebuild kit. Otherwise they may help someone else searching for help on the Carter

Hello Matt,
Just been to ' The Chassis Data ' book, to make a note of Horizon episode next to your car's notes and noticed it has a red interior. I couldn't quite see from the photos, but that must be quite an effective combination with cassis. My interceptor II was cassis ( unfortunately resprayed silver ) and has a black interior. The majority of cassis coloured cars had red interiors, from recollection I think about 28 out of 55 painted that colour, including factory demonstrator XEA 2H that was sold to comedian Mike Winters. See your car was resprayed ' Metallic Quartz ' when it was sold to Tony Sheldon. Was it resprayed cassis some years back ?

Hi - yes, you're absolutely right, the car was painted Cassis when originally built, then re-painted in Quartz as per request from Tony Sheldon of FF Research. We've got copies of all the correspondence relating to the sale and colour choice.
We're not sure when the car returned to Cassis - we do know it was Cassis again by 1996 when it was sent to Cropredy Bridge for a bare metal resto and repaint. Our assumption is it was repainted Cassis at some point by the private owner who had it from '76 to '96 (J.R. Moore, Isle of Man we think)

Interesting the letter is signed Tony. (Edit: I assumed this was Tony Rolt at first reading).

Hi Simon :P ..Many thanks for your PM..do you have an FF too Simon or a Mk2 Interceptor?..this was a very popular colour, one of my Mk2's was this Cassis colour too, but I went Blue..I wish I had kept it this colour actually..lovely beautiful colour :)

What method of cleaning did you use to get the carb looking so good?

Combination of ultrasonic cleaning and vapour blasting - I've got a small specialist nearby that I've used for various engine bits, always does a good job and reasonably priced.

Mark1Stu wrote: Thu Feb 04, 2021 1:57 pm Great looking car Matt. Congratulations.

Dave Barnett is the go to man for FFs as Kev mentioned. I think the Carter AVS is a great carb and have reconditioned mine over the years. There's a great book called overhauling Carter carburettors which is worth getting hold of. Will post a picture of it if needed. The only thing I found is there are different diameter accelerator pumps in some of the carbs. My '69 'D' series engined Interceptor was different to my 'E' series '69 FF for instance.

Depending on the knowledge of the parts specialist you use, you may find you get a generic rebuild kit for the carb which has the wrong replacement accelerator pump. I found an American parts specialist in the SW who looked up the carb number in his old parts books to find the original rebuild kit number and cross referenced it with the revised current part number. So, if you hit this problem let me know.

Btw, those Rostyles look good to my eyes, chrome polish the centres within an inch of their lives, new black paint and resilvered rims will set off an already special car I'm sure. Hope you intend keeping it as original as possible.
Thanks Mark. This is the carb rebuild kit I have in hand - it was in the boot when we bought the car. I'm hoping it's the right one ? Sounds like I need to check the accel pump diameter before I go much further.

The car also came with a set of Jensen manuals - including this one which covers the carb in detail, current plan is to follow the set up & adjustments as described in this:

We've had a go at cleaning up the existing chrome on one of the wheels and it's come up better than expected... so new black paint and re-silver the outer rim could well be the plan now :)
