Well no change with the poor website. Took over 12 refreshes today to get in.
Perhaps the administrators can explain why I only get this infuriating problem on the JOC forum and no where else on the world wide web.
There are many times when I would like to add possibly useful information to an email notifies post, and then give up trying to get into the site.

I have used firefox for years, and i have been in the forum for a few years.
But only in the last few days have i been getting the black screen and have

Nothing has changed my end,
I can get into home page models etc no problem
it seems to be just the forum.
sometimes if i go home page then forum it works.

Hi Chris at least I am not on my own.
Just saw on emails that you had replied to my post, but after 6 tries to get into the forum, I then went to JOC main page and then it linked in ok.
By the time I eventually manage to get into the forum i have forgotten what I was going to write. Heck we pay enough for our membership and the old JOC website never gave any problems, so why does this crazy site play up ? How about a reply from admin ? If this was a business website, you would be losing customers by the droves.

Hi Mike
The thing people overlook is that we are not all computer wizards.
I see advice posted like empty the cache i have no idea what that means.

Nothing has changed for me either..it's a pain to log on with firefox, that's my daily browser with all my info/bookmarks etc and so I don't want to change to different browser just for this forum, I have no issues with any other forum or logging on to anything for that matter..only our JOC Forum, it appears nothing has been done to resolve this issue that we have been talking/moaning about for probably the last 18months..it's poor show for a website that I think cost quite alot of money to be created/updated, logging in is the basic start/root to using the forum, it really should be compatible with any browser surely, terrible show by the company that created it I feel,..that's my view anyway :?

Personally,I feel rather miffed (putting it mildly) that nearly every day I can't log in to the forum of the club of which I was one of the founder members.
About time something was done, and why no help/comment from any of the administrators ?

So far actions taken have not really improved the situation. I have learned to live with it. There have been times the site performed faultlessly but at the moment I have to renew the page from 0 to 20 times before it shows properly. It is not a big deal, just a bit annoying and please do not be to disturbed by this small issue.
Even for the very experienced IT people these problems can be extremely difficult to resolve.
A bit more patience please.

I use Safari on a Mac. Occasionally, maybe once a fortnight, when I click on the forum link saved in my favourites, I am taken to the main web site page.
Re-clicking the same link usually takes me to the forum. A strange glitch.
Clicking on the "new" posts on any particular discussion never takes me to the newest posts - an issue I've had ever since we migrated.
Like others, I've kind of got used to it and live with it.
It does seem there are still numerous glitches on the forum, regardless of browser.

The problems are due to the forum running within the web site, not with the forum itself.

I resigned, Raj is now the IT person but isn't hugely technical, there is a company in India which looks after the maintenance of the website and membership database etc. That company don't have any experience of the forum software we use and didn't want to take it on. Raj had been trying to find someone to take on the maintenance of the forum but hadn't been able to.

This is in no way a criticism of Raj who looks after the day to day IT stuff very well, as well as regalia and various other things she does for the club.

I will have a look into it when I have time.

The question now is, why on earth did we migrate to a new website.?
Perhaps there is a JOC member, who has the knowledge to cure these gliches ?

Thanks Zac, I'm sure the forum members will appreciate you telling it like it is.

I presume that some of the changes have to happen because of software security issues, and also software does not last forever without becoming obsolete.

Hi Felix,

Nothing has changed on the site or the forum links. I had to refresh my Firefox page as I've not used it for a while but it opened okay. I used it as my membership account not my IT account to make sure I have the same access as any other member.

Sure you may have done this but have you cleared your cookies and cache? some times it remembers a failed login and blocks it. screen image to show I am in the Firefox browser.

Hi Raj

No worries, thanks for the reply- I was reluctant to clear the cache/cookies because when I did this last I had to log on to the various sites again manually, if I remember correctly (?), and that was a bigger hassle than switching to another browser. I've just tried it again on that laptop and now it loads the forum w/o problems.

You can also test by opening up a Firefox Private Window (Incognito etc) and seeing whether it works in that. Not as good as clearing the cache, but easier.
