Is Harry teasing us?

Post by Eddie »

For those of you that watch Harry’s Garage on you tube, it looks like we may see a Jensen FF video. Now the questions is, if he is doing an FF review, who’s FF is it? My guess is it will be the supercharged one currently for sale.

OK, some guy that puts out a lot of YouTube videos. I repeat the question, "Who's Harry?" I never heard of him.

He is a motoring journalist who started evo magazine, also an avid car collector.

Have a look at his YouTube channel Chris. Very knowledgeable car reviews. Also another favourite of mine is Tyrells classic workshop.

Both really interesting guys, if you have an hour or 2 to hand, worth watching better than anything on TV and addictive. I like the one where Harry picks his Espada up, he talks about the old 7.5 ton truck he uses more than the Espada and he is right in everything he says about it.

My Guess, is it will be the sage green FF that was restored by Rejen.
Harry seems to get a lot of the cars that he reviews from the Classic Motor hub and that FF was for sale recently there.

Got to say I like it even more now I've seen the video. Just wish JIA could take the bodywork to a higher level. That tailgate profile/gap...but boy, you wouldn't be thinking of that when you take it for a drive.

Off to write my letter to Santa.

For those that don’t follow Harry’s garage on YouTube. Harry’s videos are a fairly big deal when it comes to car stuff. The FF video has notched up 100,000 views in the first 24hrs.

Nearly 1000 comments, most saying along the lines of the coolest car of all time.

This is great exposure for the Jensen mark and in turn the club.

All good stuff :D

On FFs and Interceptors: "they have always been that just sort of heavy, I wouldn't say lumbersome, but they were, they needed all of their 6.75 or 7 litre engines and they had a kind of slippy sort of auto gearbox and you wafted, you added power, cruised a bit, added power and it wasn't quite the connection."

Just one of a few passages I could quote. I've not seen all that many of his videos, but it was a luke warm appraisal at best- both for the JIA car and the original FF (and the Interceptor). But I didn't expect a better review from him, to be honest.

I'm with you on both these sentiments.

The FFs are great daily cars completely standard. The car seems to have gained a few Kgs too.

Fitting modern pistons in the form of a 498ci/8.1 litre stroker kit, (no need to overbore the original 383 block these days), and a decent exhaust would have done the same job and made it a lot more interesting. A decent aircon system from a specialist like Fenair and it is job done, you still legitimately have a classic car, tax exempt and are allowed to upgrade brakes. The FF drive line is derived from competition cars anyway, and stock rear suspension handled the 600BHP+ of the FFF100 in numerous world record setting exploits.

The car surely sounds terrible to anyone who has heard a proper Mopar at least once in their life.
