Jensen P66 prototype

Post by RajM »

Hello everyone,

Some of you may already know, but a new Matrix model "Jensen P66 Prototype" will soon be out at the end of June. Matrix and Cult Model thanks to the help fo David Wright and Derek Chapman have produced a 1:43 scaled model of this beautiful prototype.

The club will shortly be adding this to the club shop but I am also taking orders now. If you are interested in acquiring one or both please message me on regalia@joc.org.uk

Here is a little write up from Matrix:
Jensen P66 prototype Green and White 1964
The P66 was developed in house by Jensen in the early 1960's and shown at the 1965 London Motor Show. It was never put into production. It was conceived as a replacement for the Austin-Healey 3000 whose production was coming to an end rather than as a replacement for the CV8. The finances at Jensen meant that the project was dropped to allow all the effort to be put into the new Interceptor project based on the stunning Vignale design.

many thanks Raj

One little discrepancy in Matrix blurb, the Interceptor was designed by Touring and built by Vignale

Nice to see it in white - that is how it looked when I first saw it. Prefer the light green, though.

I owned this car for 25 years so, as you might expect, was very keen to get hold of the model. I must say everyone concerned has done an excellent job and it is superb. Some of the subtle lines like the slightly flat front to the bonnet have been captured to perfection. And, as Keith says, well done Regalia Secretary Raj for fantastic service.

Apart, of course, for what looks like a Scammel mechanical horse in the background. Why not a Jen-Tug?

And well done to Derek Chapman and David Wright of course! The more I look at it, the more impressed I become. The interior detail is fantastic.

I've got all the Jen-Tug models Stephen, including the Jen-Helec, but not on this particular layout.

Now, I've shown you mine Stephen, you show us yours!

I've only got the Jen-Helec (or as Dinky labelled it, the "Hindle Smart Helecs") and that is ripe for restoration! Packed away with all the other boxes at the moment pending a remodelling of the house.

Mind you, when I went searching for it to photo it, I found an Internet WiFi booster that I've been looking for all year!

Thanks Mike.

It was mainly David Wright who got things moving on it, and I just supplied as much information and input as I could to get things right. The first pre production model missed out a lot of the important panel lines on the boot, bonnet and roof which are key to the unique look of the P66, so I made sure they were added!
