Interceptor Mk3 Tools and age-appropriate radios

Post by MarkC »

Calling Planet JOC! Any ideas where I can get the tools to go in my Interceptor Mk3 tool roll? Also, I have fitted a nice Caliber radio but to my eye it looks more late 50s than late 60s - I was thinking a reconditioned Voxson, but it needs all the modern extras eg: BlueTooth etc. Anyone know anyone producing these?

Cheers,

Hi Mark - when Rejen restored my interior they replaced the Halfords-spec 90s CD/Radio with a Motorola/Jensen 8 Track, which powers two speakers in the front foot wells, but it also has a hidden amp with Bluetooth that powers 4 bigger/better speakers in the door cards and the rear. When you get in the car, the phone (or Bluetooth device) sees the amp automatically (it powers up when the ignition is on - the 8 track you turn on normally), and you can play your music from the phone. You can actually use both systems simultaneously. Extremely pleased with it.

Tool kit covered here, what tools are you missing? I have a few spare King Dick tools for a Jensen tool roll ... Nothing looks better or sounds as good as a Radiomobile/Voxson, an asset to any Jensen

Hi Guys I found an old yellow Cuxson Gerrard First Aid Kit on eBay, which I think was original spec for my Series 3 Interceptor. It is of course empty, but does anyone know what it would have originally contained?

Hi,

Another alternative for adding current spec mod-cons to an age appropriate radio would be to add a wireless / handsfree receiver unit hidden under the centre console, which could receive your smartphone music (and/or calls) via Bluetooth, and send to your head unit via FM or an AUX input (and it really isn't too hard to modify a radio to add an AUX input). Biggest advantages are that it's completely hidden, you use the head unit to raise lower volume, tone, etc, you can also build in a mic to answer calls, and the following brand also have a unit which can add DAB radio too:

https://www.dension.com/automotive/products#

Once I fix my door windows in the next week (those damn plastic gears), I'll be moving on to fit a new head unit. It's not quite in the 70's era, it's an 80's Nakamichi TD700C (I really wanted a cassette player and its simple, black and white styling suite the Jensen interior and switchgear very well), plus a Denison module, so I'll be able to provide you with an update in the next month or so.

If you'd like a photo of the Nakamichi unit, let me know.
