Restomod Interceptor coming soon

Post by Pymmie »

I saw this post on social media over the weekend.

The first photo is a CGI of what the owner wants.

Pictures 2/3 are what has already been ‘achieved’

Is there any legal action that can be taken to stop this muppetry?

I was going to ask is it legal?

I remember cringing at Chop Shop London Garage and wondered if the cars are altered
that much do they need some sort of re-test ?

I don't think that classifies as a restomod. A restomod is meant to keep the classic appearance with updated drivetrain, handling etc. I would have said this is a custom. The design doesn't really flow very well.

Hmmm, each to their own..

I don't understand, amongst other things with that build, the bonnet scoop. They've cut vents immediately ahead of the intake which appears would draw hot air from the engine bay directly into the engine intake??

Perhaps it's to be used in a cold climate. In any regards, the phrase 'cold day in hell' may be the best place for this abomination. Just but a Corvette for goodness sake!

I'm puzzled by the purpose of that turnbuckle.
Is it to hold the body panel in place until welding, shaping is completed?

Is it really an FF or have they just cut another vent in the wing?

Thankfully its not an FF, its bad enough to do that to an Interceptor though.

There will be a lot of time and money going into this and the outcome will be an ugly worthless ruined Interceptor.

Im personally not a fan of restomods or some of the other Interceptors with modified bodywork, but at least you can see why they would appeal to others whereas this is just a Frankenstein car.

Oh dear, where in the world is this misadventure taking place? I’m wondering where these ‘design influences’ are coming from.

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder etc.......

It's not an Interceptor, but an Interceceptor, according to the caption on the artwork. 109 comments on Facebook (and an awful lot of likes) but nobody has commented on the spelling, must say something about me.
