Yes, John, you're just soooo pedantic!
:) :)
So long as the modifications are limited to just the outer body panels, you could argue that the car is still putrightable at a later date.
Does anybody know what wonderful changes the owner has in mind for the drivetrain and the cabin?

Things like this have been happening for years, do you remember that Orange one that was produced at huge expense a few years ago and then I remember parking next to a car at an International that had XJS fiberglass bumpers and I think side skirts grafted onto it together with an Ali dash.

Just because you have money does not mean you have taste as can be seen on some of the new cars that are produced by high end car makers. There was an almost brand new Bentley last year parked in the local town, it had lurid green paint and red leather.

Looks like they could save a lot of time and money by just buying an Aston DBS and cutting and shutting it with a Panhard PL17.
I don't have a problem with people modifying things, generally, but often don't understand it. Why modify the front to look like something else you can just go and buy in the first place?

Nothing a good front & rear traffic-jam shunt can't put right.

Whereas I can see some limited appeal in the CGI rendering, the actual build is not following suit. The bulged top to the front wings (Stingray style) does not appear in the grey CGI!

Then again there are always those who can pull it off and do something really odd and make it cool.
I dont think there is much chance of that happening in this case, :D if it now has to comply with pedestrian impact legislation that spiky intake on the bonnet will have to go, but that still leaves the heavy handed front wing treatment, why do people do things like this ???

Steve, i seem to remember the orange one was based on a 7 series BMW. It was rebodied into a LWB Interceptor.

Wasn’t that long ago either, must be about somewhere.

The one based on a BMW 7-series was in the Isle of Man. As far as I know it's still there. It would be difficult to get it registered as anything other than a BMW in the UK.

Yep, that is the one.

I heard it was up for sale but he wanted a crazy amount of money for it do I suspect he still has it.

It was bought last year and I saw it on social media having all the bolt on bits removed.

The new owner also has the SP well known for being pictured on fire at the side of the road
a few years back.

Was Blue now White

This is Stephen Carter's reworked image of the BMW/Interceptor, making it look a little more attractive than the real thing. (Maybe he still has a copy of the original picture?)
We concluded that it wasn't really a modified Interceptor, but a modified BMW740 made to look like an interceptor by changing the outer panels and glasshouse, because it was 100% BMW mechanically. Even the interior was totally BMW.
Nice to see the orange Interceptor being put right.

Jensen/BMW alive and well two years ago in the Isle of Man, was owned then by John Rhys Davies the actor, part of a collection of classic cars that he keeps on the Island.
Apparently bought it because it's a bit different.

Peter.

I think the guy wants an Iso Griffo A3L and as its a one off prototype it is hard to buy. So he has opted for another American engined Italian styled car to base his Frankenstein Interceceptor Grifo on, with a bit of DBS thrown in. A short wheelbase 2 seat Interceptor missing the rear windows may be more in line with the Grifo…. like the someone has who done a real cut and shunt on the last picture...
