By 1993 neither DeTomaso or Jensen had a future.....but their cars lived on in the hands of enthusiasts, owners and collectors.
Spending a few dollars or pounds on one of the best examples, back then, and looking after it, was better than money in the bank, and still is (though to a lesser degree right now)……..my Post Office savings account currently yields .01% interest. !

The Blue Chip DeTomaso is the Mangusta, one of the few cars to be classed as an investment today, outside of all the myriad of Ferraris etc.
I suppose the Jensen FF is likewise ? or maybe the very early cars ?
The hiccup now is purchase price + restoration = current value.

You are right, Roger, but it's "woulda, coulda, shoulda..."

Who would have thought that all those cars I used to dream about in Road and Track "Marketplace" back in the '70s could have funded my retirement.... IF a teenaged kid could buy a garage, and afford to keep up with 10-20 "exotics"...

If only we knew then what we know now!

Like KennyG and Grant (with his collection of priceless steering wheels!)

Yes, Rocky, the 60's and 70's were the halcyon years for me too....happy to have lived through it, and enjoyed those times.
1960, I was still at school, and a local open field car dealer had a black Cord 912. (maybe 810 ?) 2 door, chrome flexi exhaust pipes out of the bonnet and down into the front wings.
I pleaded with my father to buy it...one day it will be valuable, Dad, .promised to pay him back out of my pocket money, but no. ''Don't talk daft'' he said, ''get on with your home work''. 14 years old, and I knew nothing ! It sold for £92. Ah, well......I guess we all have similar stories to relate.....
